Bangladesh Maritime University (BMU) the only public maritime university in Bangladesh has published its undergraduate admission circular for the academic year 2025–2026.
Only those students who have passed the SSC/equivalent examination in 2022 or 2023 and the HSC/equivalent examination in 2024 or 2025 are eligible to apply for admission to the 1st Year Bachelor (Honours) Program at BMU, provided they meet the specific requirements mentioned below.
Eligibility Requirements For Maritime University
Faculty of Earth and Ocean Science
- Must have passed SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent examinations from the Science group with a minimum GPA of 4.00 in both.
- In the HSC/equivalent exam, students must obtain ‘A’ grade in at least two (2) subjects from Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, and ‘B’ grade in all other subjects.
- For English medium students:
- O-Level: Must pass in at least five (5) subjects including Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. More than two (2) ‘C’ grades will not be accepted.
- A-Level: Must pass in at least three (3) subjects including Mathematics, Physics, and Biology. More than one (1) ‘C’ grade will disqualify the applicant.
Faculty of Engineering and Technology
- Must have passed SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent examinations from the Science group with a minimum GPA of 4.00 in both.
- In the HSC/equivalent exam, students must obtain ‘A’ grade in at least two (2) subjects from English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and ‘B’ grade in all other subjects.
- For English medium students:
- O-Level: Must pass in at least five (5) subjects including Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. More than two (2) ‘C’ grades will not be accepted.
- A-Level: Must pass in at least three (3) subjects including Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. More than one (1) ‘C’ grade will disqualify the applicant.
Faculty of Maritime Governance and Policy
- Must have passed HSC/equivalent and SSC/equivalent examinations from any group with a minimum GPA of 3.50, and ‘B’ grade in all subjects.
- For English medium students:
- O-Level: Must pass in at least five (5) subjects. More than two (2) ‘C’ grades are not acceptable.
- A-Level: Must pass in at least two (2) subjects. More than one (1) ‘C’ grade will disqualify the applicant.
Faculty of Shipping Administration
- Must have passed HSC/equivalent and SSC/equivalent examinations from any group with a minimum GPA of 3.50, and ‘B’ grade in all subjects.
- For English medium students:
- O-Level: Must pass in at least five (5) subjects. More than two (2) ‘C’ grades are not acceptable.
- A-Level: Must pass in at least two (2) subjects. More than one (1) ‘C’ grade will disqualify the applicant.

Note: For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.
